Garth Pond 2016
The pond is looking great thanks to a local volunteer Paul who clears out the reed mace each winter
The water levels are still very high locally and is reflected in the level here too
Saw 6 baby ducks yesterday on the pond
Star of Bethlehem can be found in the Spring on the Garth
The Great crested Newt lives on the site. It’s an endangered species and highly protected by law
It is illegal to disturb the habitat of a newt or to handle a newt.
Work on maintenance of the pond can only be done when the newt is in hibernation between end of November and begining of February.
